Ouija – you’re a child maybe eight, its dark, you are sitting with a friend maybe two with your fingers on the planchette but you don’t even know it’s called a planchette nor do you care. All you care about is the tingling you feel, the excitement, the way the hair stands up on the back of your neck.

If you are like most people, that was your first experience with Ouija. More likely than not the planchette moved but didn’t really give you an intelligible message, at least not at that first sitting.

When I was a child I loved the board. I had a child’s sense of wonder and it was magical. Then I had a troubled adolescence – that’s almost an oxymoron isn’t it? Don’t we all have a troubled adolescence? But as a result of my troubled past I became a born again spirit filled Christian. This was long before the “religious right,” long before Ronald Regan, but any fundamentalist religious tradition of almost any faith is going to have strict dogmatic rules and one of the rules of the Christian fundamentalist was, is, and probably always will be: don’t mess with Ouija. So I drifted away.

It wasn’t until I began to explore and define my faith for myself instead of delegating that responsibility to someone else that I realized Ouija was important to me. In this section I hope to share my passion for this strange, wonderful, and mysterious board with you.

I hope you enjoy it.

Much love and many blessings,
